Description: A whistler produced by Karl Griesbaum in Germany. These early figures were hand carved, so although you may see another ‘drunk whistler’ each one is an individual. The figure whistles and moves his head from side to side, and the light in the street lamp lights up (see one pic) The light is powered by 2 x D batteries in the base. The Griesbaum marks are clearly incised on the back. The movement has been restored and plays very well. Produced probably in the 1930’s. The carving is crisp, and the colors are clear. The figure stands approx 19” tall, and the base approx 5” x 3 1/2”. Please ask questions if I can help further.
