Antique, rare, immediate post US Civil War era hardcover book on NYC transit book by the same author of the famous NYC Valentine's manuals/guides detailing ferry leases and railroad grants in overall good to very good condition. Book has undergone a repair with clothbacked bookbinder's tape to the boards and spine which renders the binding and structural integrity very sturdy. Exterior of the book is clean with some rubs to the outer corners and edges of the coverboards. When laying flat with the front cover facing up the front cover does not fully close, however, this can be placed on a shelf as normal and will close if snuggly placed on a shelf and will also lessen if not completely fade over time. Interior of the book is overall clean with some minor, very old watermarks or small tatters at some outerpage margins and also with minor toning from age to or foxing. Pages are sturdy and not brittle and the book has no odors. Book's binding is tight and well intact and the book is complete with all pages present and none coming loose, detached or missing. Book totals 503 pages. Book has no table of contents (as issue) but does have a very extensive index. Book measures approximately 8 7/8 x 5 3/4 x 1 1/4 and weighs about 1 3/4 pounds.
