Blaeu's map of the region of Flemish Brabant centered on Brussels. Decorative cartouche 4 coats of arms, striking compass rose and military scale. Includes Mechelen and Louven. Shows early roads, rivers, forests, towns, canals, etc. The cartographer of the map is the famous J.F. van Langren. Brussels and the most important connecting roads from north to south have clearly been indicated. Source unknown, to be determined. Artists and Engravers: Willem Janszoon Blaeu (1571 - 1638), also abbreviated to Willem Jansz. Blaeu, was a Dutch cartographer, atlas maker and publisher. He had two sons, Johannes and Cornelis Blaeu, who continued their father's mapmaking and publishing business after his death in 1638.
