Description: This is an absolutely gorgeous antique iron lock made by an artisan master lock smith in Germany in the "Middle Age"(~1600's). It is completely handmade and a lot of artistry went into the making of this lock. There are some beautiful scrollworkdecorations around the lock as well as very ornate engravings on the flat part of the lock. The 2 parallel locking bolts are 1 3/4"wide!The key is 4 1/4" long! The lock itself measures a massive 11 1/2" in length and is 5" high. This lock was installed on the main entrance door of a German castle. The lock and key are mounted on a very substantial oak plaque which is 13 1/2" wide and has a thickness of 1 1/8".On the lower right side of the plaque there is a hand carved medallion in the size of 4" high and 2" wide showing the family crest of the castles owner with its initials "BH". This lock and its assembly are "one of a kind"!
