Description: Up for auction is a very unique piece out of a Limoge factory. This is a Limoge artist's adjustable decorating armrest. I believe it is missing the actual flat, round plate that the piece would sit on that would spin on the pointed spike that sticks up. The artist would spin the piece slowly around with one hand and steady their decorating arm on this armrest when hand detailing / lining pieces. This armrest is made of a heavy cast iron base with the Limoge name and Patent date of June 27, 1916 embossed in the center with 2 arrows pointing opposite each other. The wooden armrest tilts back and forth and raises up and down to accommodate the height or the width of the piece they were working on. I've only been able to track down 1 picture of this being used in the factory and now I can't find it again unfortunately. The cast iron base measures 14.5 inches from end to end, it is about 7 inches wide from arrow tip to arrow tip. The whole piece stands 7.25 inches tall and the arm adjusts all the way up at the moveable end to almost 16 inches tall. Both the tilt and the up and down movement are locked in place by large wing nuts. Not sure of the type of wood, possibly oak. There are 2 small splits at the business end of the armrest. The whole unit is solid and pieces move freely. What an amazing find!! Would make a great store display or just a great conversation piece for the coffee table. If you are a serious antique Limoge collector, this is for you!
