Description: This antique Japanese sewing box is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship. Made of wood and featuring a brown color with a beautiful and unique wavy grain. This box is perfect for storing all your sewing essentials. The box has a total of five drawers and a flip top with two wooden trays. The box is an original piece from Japan and dates back to the period between 1900 and 1940. The intricate design and attention to detail make it a true work of art. This antique Japanese sewing box is a must-have for anyone who appreciates the beauty of Japanese craftsmanship and wants to add a unique piece to their collection. I don’t know what kind of wood this is. I’ve seen similar antique boxes and some people say keyaki wood or mulberry wood or tamo ash wood. I’m not sure. But it is very unique and exudes beauty. Inside the flip top where there are 2 wooden trays there is a “gizmo” of some kind that I’m not sure what its use is but most likely connected to sewing. There is a Japanese symbol on the bottom. Also a carved crescent moon in the wood on the back. Also a slot in the wood on the right side. Please look at the photos. Measurements are: 12 5/8 inches wide 7 5/8 inches deep 10 inches tall Pls ask any questions. Many thanks!
