Description: Fine quality large silverplate tea/serving tray. This tray was made by Fjodor Iwanowicz Emme during the period of the Russian Empire. It has his mark “Oehme” discreetly on one end of the top of the tray. It’s very rare to find this type of thing in America so there’s not much information to be found on the maker. One Polish auction house result I found credits a similar tray to having been made circa 1850. The hammer price for that tray was approximately $967 USD, converted from the polish Zloty. This tray is a good size at approximately 22” handle to handle, and 14” wide. It’s in quite good shape for its age overall with some expected wear. There are two repairs that I see. The handle has been reinforced on one underside. The handle on the other side does have a small crack and should be handled carefully. There is one other small repair or reinforcement on the underside along an edge. I’ve supplied closeup photos of these spots. The quality of the work on the tray itself and the reinforcements is good. I purchased this as part of an auction lot of very good quality silverplate. It was mostly 19th century European with a couple Russian pieces. You’re going to be hard pressed to find another like this. If you’re a collector of Russian Empire luxury goods this is a nice thing to have. Some of the listing photos feature a partial tea set. Those pieces are only for display and are NOT included in the sale. The listing is for the Oehme tray only. Please inspect all photos carefully. Shipping is ASAP! Thanks Note: serving pieces on the tray in several photos are for display only and are NOT included in the sale.
