Description: Dating from the early 20th century, these ANTIQUE hardwood ribbon shuttle looms are interesting industrial relics from the American textile industry. Group the lot together and display the vintage wood thread shuttles as decor in a craft room or living room book shelf. Handcrafted from hard wood, most likely maple, two of the ribbon shuttle loom are marked Riehl & Son, a Philadelphia textile machinery company known for the high-quality woodworking of their narrow fabric looms. These two shuttles are attached to geared bases. Found in the estate of a family that owned a ribbon mill Paterson, N.J., the ribbon shuttle looms are in good condition showing typical wear for industrial tools. There are no cracks in the hardwood. The shuttle looms show some dust soiling and there is residue of machine oil on the geared bases. Two of the shuttles with bases are about 6 1/2" wide.The small shuttles are abut 5 1/4" wide.
