Description: ANTIQUE GEORGIAN 15K SEPIA MINIATURE HAIR MOURNING PIN PENDANT c1790 MAIDEN DOGAn antique English, solid 15 carat gold (tests thereabouts) navette-shaped pin / pendant; with blue and white enamelling surrounding a gently rounded glass, holding a finely hand painted sepia mourning miniature depicting a maiden, with a dog in her arms(symbolising fidelity / lasting love), and a locket compartment to the reverse containg an old woven hair memento and the initials 'EJ' engraved. A wonderfully collectable Georgian period mourning pin / pendant...wearable too! CONDITION: All original and generally good. Some signs of wear to enamel commensurate with age and use - some crazing and very faint slight loss to sepia, negligible. Pin clasp an old replacement - of no consequence.
