Description: Not all Carnival Glass is created equal! This is an example of Fenton's original carnival glass color marketed by Fenton as "Golden Sunset". The term carnival glass had not been coined at that time. Fenton described Golden Sunset as Follows: "Golden Sunset Iridescent Glass, entirely new iridescent effects heretofore possible to produce only in the exclusive import lines". Just look at the above photos, and you will see the description could not be more accurate. The double flower motif is ringed by a reticulated pattern as the opalescent amethyst, blues, and yellows give the impression of a beautiful sunset. This is in great vintage condition, with no chips, cracks, or scratches. Note that most authentic carnival glass will have hay marks that were made when the pieces were set on hay to cool. This is a sign of the real thing! The bowl measures 10" across and is approx. 3 1/2" tall. The opalescence is beautifully crisp and lustrous. The Fenton Art Glass Company made its original carnival glass from 1907 through the late 1920's. This pattern was introduced in 1915, and was not included in their reproductions from the 1970's. Whether adding to your Fenton collection, or just beginning to appreciate carnival glass, this is sure to be a cherished addition to your collection! Thanks for looking!
