Description: This lovely antique crucifix was bought as a souvenir of the Holy Land in late Victorian or Edwardian times, perhaps circa 1900 - 1920. It says "Bethlehem" on the back. A lot of work went into making it: ebony and olive wood were used to create inlay patterns, and the mother of pearl shell was carved and fitted. The Stations of the Cross were inlaid and numbered with MOP rounds on the back of the crucifix. Condition: overall condition is good, but the glue attaching the carved MOP shell rays is noticeable on the back side -- whether this was original, or done later as I repair, I don't know. There is minor wear to the wood and MOP in places, so I've taken detailed photos. Thank you for looking.
