Description: Hello neighbor , Here is an antique miner’s pick head that was made for use in close quarters underground in mineshafts . Whether coal mines , gold mines , lead deposits , or whatever metal or mineral the miner was working for , this piece of equipment was a necessary tool . The pick is in good condition , no cracks or breaks anywhere , the surface of the metal is dimpled , I don’t know if it’s from exposure to the elements over the years or if it’s just the nature of the old metal it was made from . It’s just a great little tool you’d be proud to own . This pick weighs just a tad over 2 1/2 pounds , and measures approximately 15 inches long . The eye for the handle is 3 inches long and about 1 inch wide . When I was a young child , while visiting my grandparents in northern Alabama , I would explore around some long abandoned coal mines in some close by mountains in hopes of finding some relic left behind by some of the miners that worked in those mines . The mines were mostly caved in and were considered by some as possible dens for black bears that were seen occasionally in the area so I never wandered into the mines themselves . Oh well , I never found any treasures but I have the memories of rambling around in the woods and the excitement of exploring ! You can add this miner’s pick to your collection of tools that has some early American history behind it . This is NOT an AI generated description as I have inspected and documented this item myself !!😃 Happy shopping and thanks for shopping on my site !!😁 Please check out my other items and add me to your favorites list and follow my listings for more great items !!😊 Thanks for looking !!👀🇺🇸👍🏼
