Description: This humble but moving folk carving of the crucified Christ is 100 or so years old and retains stable old or original paint overall. Measuring 10 1/2" head to toe x 9 1/2" wide at the hands, the piece displays the wounds of the crucifixion vividly inclding, rather unusually, the wounds to the back from scourging and bearing the weight of the cross on the via dolorosa. You will note losses to the fingers and the artist filled the joints at the shoulders with plaster or putty before painting: some of this has fallen out.
