Description: Beautiful Antique English Thermometer/Barometer in carved Mahogany case. Banjo Style. The wood is in wonderful condition. No scratches or dings on the front and sides. There is a small rough area on the back at the very top. There is a flower carving at the top of the piece and at the bottom the carving is of a shaft of wheat. Very charming. The temperature and barometer indicators seem to be working well. This Barometer is British made. The face is lovely but the glass, at the edges where it meets the brass casing, looks like there is a bit of old glue? Not sure what it is or if it could be cleaned easily. The aneroid thermometer is in very nice shape and displays both Fahrenheit and Centigrade. Interesting, on the Centigrade temperature gradations the "0" degrees is labeled "Freezing" and at ~40 degrees it is labeled "Blood Heat", which is the normal temperature of the human body. (had to Google that term!) This is a lovely old piece that keeps you advised up to the minute of the temperature and humidity while at the same time looking beautiful on your wall. It's hoping for a good home!! Please see pictures to best see detail and condition. Thanks for looking!
