Description: Presented is a great pair of American coin silver tongs. These tongs date to around 1850-1865. The tongs are done in a more decorative variant of the Olive pattern, which originated and quickly became popular around this time period. The tongs have nice scallop shell form ends, undoubtedly intended for serving sugar lumps originally but great for ice or other serving purposes today. The pattern has an oval cartouche on both arms of the tongs, neither of which has ever been monogrammed, but the back of the tongs has a monogram of LBR in script. The tongs are in great condition. There are no splits, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs. The tongs are stamped with a maker's mark of J. S. & Co on both arms. The tongs are about 6 inches long. This piece weighs 58 grams. -jm Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
