Description: Charming Rare Antique Tin Litho PlateAdvertising Christmas Give-Away. During the early 1900's, the C.D. Kenny Company presented customers with complimentary tin plates celebrating Christmas. This delightful tin litho plate was presented in the very early 1900’s. Marked on the bottom, "Kaufman & Strauss Co., N.Y. 935" along bottom edge and stamped "Compliments of C.D. Kenny Co." on back. Dimensions: 9-5/8” Diameter with 0.5” profile depth. Unpacked weight: 5.4 ounces. Condition: Good giftable condition. Mentionable issues: Small punched hole in top rim, assumed for hanging, corrosion in the lower left quadrant near the boy's left arm (see photo #5). Litho and underside printing is in good condition for its age, but has requisite scuffs, nicks, and abrasions commiserate with age and use. No bends or out of round problems noted. The C. D. Kenny Co. was a Baltimore, Maryland-based importer of tea and coffee founded by Cornelius David Kenny in 1872. The company roasted and sold its products, alongside sugar, baking soda, rice, Walter Baker's chocolates, and spices., at a chain of retail stores which spread across the South. The company opened its first Alabama store in 1891. The interior was electrically lit and decorated with, "imported Chinese views on the walls." Coffee was ground for customers in the store. The company regularly offered keepsake calendars and lithographs of holiday scenes as promotional items. Always happy to pass through discounts on combined shipping.
