Description: Up for sale is this beautiful antique 2 volume set of Bach's, "Welltempered Clavichord" or "Well-Tempered Clavier." The books were beautifully bound in fine red leather the year 1900 and were presented to William Thompson Myers from St. Lukes Church in Chicago. Myers later gifted the books to his student Miss Louise F. Brooke in 1920. He inscribed both of the front blank flyleaves to her. The inscription in the second volume has a few spots of ink that leak through to the blank flyleaf underneath. The books are overall in very good condition with just some minor signs of wear and age. The red leather covers only have some minor wear and the bindings are good and sound. All of the page edges are gilt. The interiors are lightly toned from age but are mostly nice and clean, though there may be the very occasional page with a light bit of foxing, grubbiness or some kind of other minor imperfection, such as a tiny chip or tear, light wrinkle, creased page corner, etc. Generally though, it's a very nice set. The books measure approximately 12 1/8 inches by 9 3/8 inches. Volume 1 is 119 pages long and Volume 2 is 131. The text of the books are in German. Please look at all of the photos to further note the condition.
