Description: This is a stunning antique keepsake box made by the Peerless Cigar Box Company and dates to the late 1800's. This was made as a Mother's Day piece and the poem on the front says "Mother: Love and best wishes I am sending your way To greet you dear Mother on this Mother's Day. With a wish from my heart that it be for you The happiest day that you ever have." Below the poem, it says Canterbury. The hinges are tight and all corners seem square. The lock tab still works but you do have to force it. There are a few light marks and could use a good wood cleaning but still truly a lovely piece! The sides are gold - to resemble a book!
