Description: Very nice, unique Victorian picture frame. I can see signs of gold gilt on the back of the metal. I would probably hang this using a black velvet ribbon and add some dried flowers, a small brooch or sentimental piece in the middle of a bow. This would have had a stand on the back, which is missing from the original back. For a delicate looking frame it is surprisingly sturdy. Made with a heavier gauge metal, believed to be brass. The backing looks to be original to the piece and has kept the frame true. The frame got a light cleaning, the backing is still a bit dusty. I don't think this ever had glass. On close inspection the cabochons show some signs of wear, mainly on high points. One has an obvious rub, though not major. I'm not sure what the stones are made of, for sale purposes I'm just going to say they are costume. They still have a glossy finish and certainly fool the eye no matter what the material. We have a lot of antique dealer estate items. I will try and get at least 6 or 7 items up per week and more if possible. See photos for complete description including size.
