Description: Andre Derain (1880-1954). He was a French artist, painter, sculptor, and cofounder of favism with Henri Matisse. This work is called Le Dinde which means the turkey in English and is watercolor on paper. The painting measures 14 1/2” x 12” and 22 1/2” x 18 1/2” framed. I do recommend a different frame. I took the back cover off the frame so I could get all the proper pictures. Some of his work sells for well into the millions, with the majority of his work in museums. While this painting is not a million dollar painting, It is still a rare opportunity to own one of this artist paintings. It is in very good condition, although it is a little rough on the outside edges on the back. I thought about having that trimmed down very little, but decided against it to keep the piece as authentic as possible. It is marked with his atelier stamp. You might not recognize this type of work from the artist so I included just a couple of photos similar to that sold at Christie’s auction houses throughout the years just to give you something to reference by.
