Description: Czechoslovakia Amphora Deco Urn Planter Vase 0 false 18 pt 18 pt 0 0 false false false This is a wonderful old bowl, or planter, from the first life of Czecho-Slovakia, during the period 1918 to 1938. Urn #19SIZE: The mouth of the Urn is about five inches at its opening and the maximum diameter of the exterior is about seven inches. The Urn rises about five inches above its supporting surface. The base glaze of this bowl is a salt glaze of beige and umber. The mouth, foot and decorative panels are all defined by incised lines in the ceramic and glazed a blue so dark it seems black. Inside the panels are mixtures of flowers variously colored pink, blue and white. It has a Persian look, with its rich finish, abstract motifs stoneware body with an attractive texture. Maker Mark:The base of the pot is well documented, with an incised number "15114", below which is incised "23". All this is beneath the beige glaze coat. Stamped on top of the beige and below the final glaze are the marks (in black ink) "R11", "1580", "18", and the oval logo with "Amphora" at its center surrounded by "Made in Czecho-slovakia." Condition: The bowl is in very good condition. I can see only a handful of beginning craze lines on the base and nothing to note elsewhere. This item has never been anything but a display cabinet piece to the best I can observe. This is a handsome vintage Czechoslovakia Amphora Urn in great condition.
