Description: Amphora Deco jeweled vase in style of the unique Gres Bijou series This is for a truly fabulous vintage Czechoslovakia Amphora jeweled vase that is in awesome condition. Large "waves" surround the base and are cobalt blue (rather than black as they may appear in the photo). There are four "sides" that are deeply carved with flowers and stylizede designs with each side being highlighted with multicolored "jewels" that are swirled with white. There are also four "columns" between the sides that are also decorated with "jewels". This is a handsome vintage vase, from the first life of Czecho-Slovakia, during the period 1918 to 1938. DESCRIPTION:The decorative surfaces are defined by incised lines in the ceramic and is nicely glazed with mixtures of variously colored pinks and blues. This vase is decorated with large raised enamel "jewels." This vase is similar to the Amphora Gres-Bijou series of vases, introduced in 1904, while the Art Nouveau movement’s focus on floral was waning. It has a biomorphic look, with its rich finish, abstract bas-relief motifs and simulated jewels. It is an innovative vase of a soft stoneware body wtih an attractive distressed molted texture. . Maker Mark: The base of the vase on bottom is marked with the Amphora Stamp above the glaze with the oval logo "Amphora" at its center surrounded by "Made in Czecho-slovakia." DATE: Probably made sometime between 1918-1939 Condition: View all photos to make certain that you've looked at all the photos, asked questions and have a good idea of condition . There are no chips or cracks that we can see. There is glaze missing on one "wave" near the top. Shows through bluish white and is about 1/2". Believe that the glaze was just worn off.
