Description: This device allows you to change the device that your Amiga boots from: Internal floppy drive or external floppy drive / Gotek. Out of the box, the Amiga 500 boots from the internal floppy drive, and a lot of the software for the Amiga is hard coded to boot and load any subsequent disks from the internal drive. But, Goteks and external drives for the Amiga's have become quite common, and in the past you would have to mount the Gotek internally to be able to use it to load software, which was cumbersome and you couldn't see the display on the Gotek or switch files easily. Then a boot switcher device was introduced that allows you to change the boot priority of the internal drive to the external and allows you to load your software from your external drive or Gotek, but those devices had a physical switch attached to them that required you to either drill a hole in your Amiga case (which some found sacrilegious) or route the switch out somewhere else like the trap door on the bottom so you had this random switch just hanging from your machine. All that hassle is gone now with this switchless boot drive selector device, and it is now available in North America (specifically Canada). What this new device does is allows you to change the boot device by simply resetting the machine 3 times in a row (the three finger reset on the Amiga; pressing the Ctrl key at the same time as the two Amiga keys on the keyboard) or holding the reset sequence buttons for about 4 seconds (4 Mississippi's). This swaps the boot priority between the internal and external drive. This then remains in place until the three resets are done again or the machine is powered off.Further to this, when you order this device, YOU can decide which device you want to be the boot priority when it is turned on. So, if you want the external drive (or Gotek) to be the primary boot device, you can specify that when you order. Also, with most boot drive switchers, when you swap to the external drive as the primary boot drive, it disables the internal drive. With this boot switcher, you can enable the internal drive via software. For example, if you select "drives on" from X-Copy, then you can use the internal drive as well. Another plus with this boot drive swapper is all the factory shields and such fit back on, so once you install it, your machine still looks factory! This has been tested on an Amiga 500 with WB 1.2 and WB 1.3.
