Description: This book is part of a collection that was owned by Edith Fairfax Davenport who was 1st cousin to James Whistler The Great American Artist. Edith Fairfax Davenport was a painter, etcher, teacher and lecturer. She was born in Kansas City Mo on July 13th 1880 and died on November 1 1957. She was a relative of James Abbott Mcneil Whistler (1834-1903) and the painter of an exact copy of Whistler's "Arrangement in Grey and Black" The Artist's mother, 1871. According to "after Whistler", the Artitst and his influence on American Painting by Linda Merrill, Davenport was Whistler's first cousin once removed. Her grandmother, Isabella Mcneill was Whistler's mother's sister. This book is in very good condition considering it's age. Front and back cover are firmly attached. Inside pages are in great condition. 7 3/4 x 5 1/2 inches bound in worn green cloth with bright gilt lettering - complete in 351 pages including 2 steel portrait engravings of the sisters.
