Lovely interpretation and composition with excellent etching technique. Original etching by CARLO CESIO (1622-1682), after the fresco painting by Carracci and the drawing/design by Arnoldo Van Westerhout (1651-1725). Fully signed and inscribed at the bottom. The plate is numbered 24 from the impressive folio-size publication "Galeria nel Palazzo Farnese in Roma del Sereniss Duca di Parma etc dipinta da Annibale Carracci intagliata del Carlo Cesio." [I show the title page in my last photo] CONDITION: Very good, just one tiny spot outside the bottom right corner (see photos). Printed on thick "laid" paper, circa 1700-1720. Platemark intact, with good wide margins beyond. Size of the image (platemark area) is 9.5 x 15.3cms. Carlo Cesio was an Italian painter/etcher who lived from 1622-1682. Born at Antrodoco, Rieti, he was a pupil of Pietro Da Cortona in Rome. All of the major museums should have/will have this series of prints.
