Description: This African American "Cabbage Patch" lookalike doll is by Martha Nelson Thomas, the Kentucky folk artist whose soft-sculpture "Doll Baby" toys provided the "inspiration" for the Cabbage Patch kids craze in the 1980s. Yes, there subsequently was a lawsuit and the case was settled out of court for an undisclosed amount. This fetching young lady features black hair made of yarn and scooped into two pony tails. Her body is in very good condition, as is the plastic head (brown eyes, dimples, simply adorable!) but her outfit has seen better days. The shorts that match her top (a very cute design with white bunnies against green) definitely need to have the elastic replaced at the waist and legs, and there is a brown-ish stain on the yellow eyelet pinafore that goes over the ensemble. This young lady measures about 15 1/2 inches long.
