Description: A Shelley Art Deco "Red Block" 11972 Eve shape Mode pattern coffee / demitasse cup & saucer. C1932. I've never seen this pattern before on the Eve shape. An extremely rare combination. Pattern No 11972 Red Block: Large coral red block with overlapping smaller black block. Broad black band with coral line immediately under. White ground. Entered into pattern book during or after 1932. The shape of this coffee cup & saucer is the Eve shape which was produced between 1935 & 1942. The back stamp is the 1925-1940 green cartouche mark. Dimensions: diameter of demitasse cup base 41mm (1.6 inches) / diameter across top of cup 71mm (2.75 inches) / height of cup 62mm (2.5 inches) / diameter of saucer 120mm (4.75 inches). Condition: Both pieces are in very good clean condition with no chips, cracks, crazing, rubbing or scratching. All paintwork / enamelling is in very good order with no fading to the pattern.
