Barbedienne after Barye's death ca. 1880's. Antoine-Louis Barye (1796-1876) the earliest and most famous sculptor of the French animalier school. This bronze measures just over and 16 inches high. We believe this piece is a copy of an original. Has the Barbedienne Foundry mark and the name. This piece was sent to a major west coast foundry to have a new mold made and I will also be selling the first copy produced off the mold. , The copy was sold on ebay for over $1900.00. After making the mold the piece was patina and is in very good condition. Comes on a marble base. This piece is very heavy weighing about 60-70 pounds.
