Classic Spanish “sail’ guard showing fine age exfoliation with 11 and 1/2 inch quillons finely forged. Steel wire bound grip with four steel straps in the style of a Spanish Bilbao rapier. Disk pommel with slash decoration. The blade with medium pitting at point and lightly pitted at ricasso, showing great age. The “sail” guard showing great age both outside and particularly inside. Grip is excellent. Pommel is fine. This is a genuine 18th century Spanish dagger that could well have been by the side of a Spanish grandee in colonial Spanish America.
