Description: Book of poetry by stripper, porn actress, and sex worker, Candy Barr (born Juanita Dale Slusher). Self-published in Midland, Texas, by Dulce Press, c.1972. First edition. Signed by Barr on the pink front endpaper. Dark blue spine with pale blue covered boards. Gold lettering on spine. Dust jacket is cut approximately 1/8 inch larger than boards, so it is slightly wrinkled at the top edge; some damage to the jacket on the front near the spine; light brown line on front and back of dust jacket possibly caused by a rubber band placed there temporarily, but it was removed before it deteriorated so there is no residue. A very good copy of a hard to find publication. Among her 1950s-1960s exploits, Barr dated Mickey Cohen and Jack Ruby, and was married three times. She shot her second husband when he reportedly kicked down the door of her apartment in Dallas, but he was not fatally wounded and charges were dropped. Later she received a 15-year sentence for marijuana possession. Some poems included were written while Barr was incarcerated in the Goree Unit of the Texas prison system in Huntsville.
