This interesting piece of 50-year-old memorabilia bears no chips, cracks, or hairlines. The AMCBW was the Labor Union of the meatpacking industry organized in 1897 and existed as such until 1979. The historical papers of this infamous Union are stored at the University of Texas in Arlington. In 1979 the AMCBW merged with the Retail Clerks International Union & together these two eventually formed the UFCW (United Food & Commercial Workers Union). The exquisite piece of silver overlay commemorated a Diamond Jubilee event in Bal Harbour Florida in 1972. The Union's organized date is Jan 26, 1897. It appears this gathering occurred in 1972...only 7 years prior to the AMCBW merging with its destined UFCW. The history of this Union is an interesting read: search it on google!
