Description: This 2023 5 oz 1921 Weinman Peace Silver Dollar is a remarkable addition to any collection. Adolph A. Weinman was a mentor to Anthony de Francisci who designed the original Peace Dollar. However, his design was one of many designs submitted for the Peace Dollar in 1921 by several artists. Most of these designs were lost to time, but photos of Weinman's Peace Dollar sketches were recently discovered and reborn by the Smithsonian. Weinman is best known for his design of the Mercury Dime and the Walking Liberty Half Dollar. These two sculpts are still used today on the Platinum and Silver Eagle Collector Coins. With the support of the Smithsonian, Weinman's rough sketches have been recreated by master engraver and artist, Jody Clark. Clark was behind the last definitive portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. The designs were crafted in dual ultra-high relief, with the highest level of detail. These commemoratives also incorporate a "Roman" finish" which resulted in a similar luster to ancient coins from the Roman Empire. Graded SP 70 by NGC, this bullion is of ultra high relief reverse proof strike type and has a fineness of 0.999. It is hand signed by Clark and is one of NGC's autograph series label 2102. The coin depicts Lady Liberty on its obverse and an eagle on the reverse, both designed by Adolph A. Weinman. This Commonwealth minted coin is a first day of issue with a limited mintage of 499. The country of manufacture is the United Kingdom.
