The chairs are made from walnut with pierced back splats flanked by quarter cut spindles. The chairs are upholstered in a floral pattern and include green seat covers that tie on. Each chair is supported by baluster turned legs with bun feet connected at the center by a serpentine H stretcher. Rockford Chair and Furniture CompanyOrganized in 1882, this company was one of the largest and oldest furniture manufacturers in the city. The company ceased manufacturing in 1950 and became a rental business until 1972, when its properties were sold to Rockford Standard Furniture. Rockford, Illinois was a major furniture manufacturing city from the Civil War to the mid-twentieth century.
