22" RARE CLONED BLACKBERRY JAM FRUIT 13MO'S OLD (RANDIA FORMOSA/JASMIN ROSA/SALE

Description: PLEASE NOTE THAT I PREFER NOT TO SHIP TO PUERTO RICO, HAWAII OR INTERNATIONALLY DUE TO THE RISK OF THE PLANT NOT SURVIVING THE JOURNEY. IF YOU WISH TO COVER THE COST OF EXPEDITED SHIPPING YOU CAN MESSAGE ME PRIOR TO BIDDING OR PURCHASING YOUR PLANT SO THAT WE CAN DISCUSS SHIPPING OPTIONS BUT I CAN NOT BE HELD LIABLE FOR LOSSES DUE TO USPS OR OTHER SHIPPING CARRIER SERVICES THAT DO NOT DELIVER ON TIME RESULTING IN THE DEATH OF YOUR TREE/SEEDLING I make every effort to ship plants as soon as payment is received. I do not provide hot packs so be mindful of cold temperatures in your area. This evergreen perennial although cold tolerant when mature and well established, tolerates mild temperatures when it is young preferably no lower than 50 F. For this reason you may need to be present when the post man delivers your package or have someone collect it from your mail box and bring it indoors to warmer temperatures before it gets damaged. I ship all of my plants via USPS FIRST CLASS 2 to 3 day delivery or Fed Ex Home delivery/GROUND/SMART POST with tracking that is available upon request but unfortunately, sometimes the postal service does not deliver on time and packages do sometimes get lost. Please try to understand, this is something that is out of my control. If your plant arrives damaged beyond saving, please message me with pictures of both your package and plant (STILL SECURED TO THE BOX) immediately so that I may correct the problem as soon as possible. There is no need to leave negative feedback as I always try to answer questions or concerns on a very timely basis, sometimes within minutes of being messaged. Your satisfaction is my greatest concern and I will do everything possible to make things right. GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY GARDENING :) INSTRUCTIONS: PRIOR TO TRANSPLANTING YOUR YOUNG TREE, PLACE THE NURSERY POT IN A CONTAINER WITH ABOUT 2 INCHES OF WATER FOR ABOUT 1 HOUR SO THAT YOU CAN SATURATE THE SOIL WITH MOISTURE WHICH HELPS TO HOLD THE ROOTS INTACT. THIS PREVENTS THE ROOT BALL FROM FALLING APART DURING TRANSPLANTATION. WHEN YOU ARE READY TO TRANSPLANT YOUR BLACKBERRY JAM FRUIT TREE TO A LARGER PLASTIC NURSERY CONTAINER (OR TO YOUR GARDEN LOCATION OF CHOICE) DO SO BY CAREFULLY REMOVING YOUR PLANT FROM THE 1 GALLON NURSERY POT WITHOUT DISTURBING THE ROOT BALL. THIS CAN BE DONE BY GENTLY CUTTING AWAY THE BASE AND SIDES OF THE NURSERY POT TO CAREFULLY RELEASE THE ROOT BALL OF YOUR TREE. FAILURE TO CAREFULLY REMOVE YOUR PLANT FROM THE NURSERY POT WITHOUT DISTURBING THE ROOT BALL MIGHT RISK SHOCKING OR KILLING YOUR DELICATE YOUNG TREE. YOUNGER TREES HAVE RELATIVELY DELICATE ROOTING SYSTEMS UNTIL THEY ARE MORE MATURE AND WELL ESTABLISHED. FOR BEST RESULTS TRANSPLANT AND GROW YOUR TREE IN A 3 TO 5 GALLON PLASTIC NURSERY CONTAINER UNTIL YOUR TREE IS AT LEAST 3 TO 4 OR MORE FT TALL BEFORE TRANSPLANTING TO YOUR GARDEN LOCATION OF CHOICE. IF YOU PREFER TO TRANSPLANT TO A LARGER PLASTIC NURSERY CONTAINER, USE ANY GOOD QUALITY WELL DRAINING POTTING SOIL TO PROMOTE GROWTH. BLACKBERRY JAM FRUIT (RANDIA FORMOSA): ORIGINATES IN SOUTH AND CENTRAL AMERICA, SPECIFICALLY NATIVE TO PANAMA, COLUMBIA, ECUADOR AND VENEZUELA. BLACKBERRY JAM FRUIT IS A TROPICAL/SUB-TROPICAL BUT COLD HARDY DIOECIUS PLANT (DOES NOT REQUIRE A SECOND PLANT TO BEAR FRUIT) THAT IS AN EASY TO GROW, EVERGREEN BUSH/SHRUB RELATED TO THE GARDENIA. IT MAINLY GROWS AS A COMPACT BUSH BUT CAN BE TRAINED TO GROW LIKE A TREE AND MAKES A BEAUTIFUL BONSAI SPECIMEN. THE PLANT BLOOMS AN EXTREMELY FRAGRANT, STAR SHAPED, WHITE, TUBULAR FLOWER THAT IS ABOUT 1.5 TO 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER AND ACTUALLY RESEMBLES THE FLOWERS OF SOME OF THE GARDENIA SPECIES. THE FLOWER GIVES WAY TO A SPHERICAL, GREEN, FRUIT THAT IS ABOUT 1 INCH IN DIAMETER WHICH EVENTUALLY TURNS YELLOW WHEN THE FRUIT IS RIPE AND READY FOR HARVESTING. THE FRUIT ITSELF HAS AN INEDIBLE, WOOD-LIKE THIN EXTERIOR SHELL THAT CAN BE EASILY CRACKED OPEN WITH YOUR TEETH TO REVEAL A DOUBLE COMPARTMENTED INTERIOR THAT CONTAINS A BLACK TO PURPLE JAM LIKE PULP THAT SURROUNDS SMALL FLAT SEEDS. THE PULP IS SWEET AND VERY REMINISCENT OF BLACKBERRY JAM BY ALMOST ANYONE WHO HAS THE PLEASURE OF ENJOYING THE FRUIT. BLACK BERRY JAM FRUIT CAN BE EASILY CONTAINER GROWN SO THAT IT CAN BE RELOCATED TO A WARMER AREA IF GROWN IN COLDER CLIMATES. IT CAN BE GROWN IN A 3 GALLON CONTAINER AND ALTHOUGH THE GROWTH RATE IS SLOW, YOUR PLANT WILL PRODUCE FRUIT IN 1 TO 1.5 YEARS AFTER REACHING A MATURE HEIGHT OF ABOUT 2 FEET TALL. CONTAINER GROWN TREES WILL GROW UP TO ABOUT 3 FEET. IF YOUR TREE IS GROWN IN-GROUND IT WILL RARELY GROW ABOVE 6 FEET TALL. A SMALL 3 FOOT TALL SPECIMEN IN A 3 GALLON CONTAINER WILL PRODUCE AS MUCH AS 25 FRUIT AT HARVEST. CLIMATE: ALTHOUGH BEST GROWN IN THE TROPICS AND SUB-TROPICS, THE PLANT IS RELATIVELY COLD TOLERANT WHEN WELL ESTABLISHED AND CAN THEREFORE BE GROWN IN NORTHERN STATES WITHSTANDING TEMPERATURES NO LOWER THAN ABOUT 26 F WHEN WELL ESTABLISHED AND MORE MATURE. IDEAL CLIMATE ZONES ARE 10A TO 11 BUT PLANTS CAN BE GROWN IN A WARM PATIO AREA IN ZONES 4A TO 11. SOIL: PREFERS WELL DRAINED ACIDIC SOIL. CAN BE GROWN IN ALKALINE SOIL BUT LEAVES MAY BECOME YELLOW (CHLOROTIC). ARID OR WET/MUCKY SOILS SHOULD BE AVOIDED. WHEN YOU ARE READY TO TRANSPLANT INTO YOUR GARDEN/GROUND, BE SURE TO AMMEND YOUR SOIL WITH A GOOD QUALITY ACID BASED SOIL TO PREVENT CHLOROSIS IF YOUR SOIL IS ALKALINE. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!! SUNLIGHT: TOLERANT OF FULL SUN ALTHOUGH YOUNG PLANTS WILL EXPERIENCE LEAF BURN IF EXPOSED TO INTENSE SUNLIGHT. CAPABLE OF TOLERATING FILTERED LIGHT OR PART SHADE CONDITIONS. LEAVES WILL BE MORE GREEN IN PART SHADE CONDITIONS AND PLANT WILL STILL BE ABLE TO PRODUCE FRUIT EVEN IN FILTERED LIGHT. THE ABILITY TO GROW IN FILTERED LIGHT MAKES BLACKBERRY JAM FRUIT THE PERFECT CANDIDATE FOR INDOOR CONTAINER GROWING OR GROWING IN A CROWDED GREENHOUSE. WATER: ALTHOUGH CONSIDERED TO BE RELATIVELY DROUGHT TOLERANT, REGULAR WATERING IS NECESSARY WHEN PLANT IS STILL IN IT'S SEEDLING STAGES. ONCE YOUR PLANT IS WELL ESTABLISHED, A MODERATE WATERING SCHEDULE WILL SUFFICE. IF UNDERWATERED YOUR PLANT WILL LOOK WILTED AND WILL DROP LEAVES INDICATING THE NEED FOR WATER. BECAUSE BLACKBERRY JAM FRUIT IS VERY HARDY, IT WILL USUALLY RECOVER ONCE PROVIDED WITH ADEQUATE WATER IF IT WAS NEGLECTED. DURING COLD SPELLS, THE PLANT IS VERY SENSITIVE TO EXCESS IRRIGATION SO WATERING SHOULD BE DECREASED OR LEAVES MAY APPEAR CHLOROTIC (YELLOW)
