The series debuted in gold bullion, and in 2018 it gained two different silver options.The tiger is the largest living wild cat today. A member of the genus Panthera, the tiger is one of the five big cats in the world and has a distinctive orange coat with black stripes, with a white underbelly. Tigers once roamed vast stretches of Asia that included the southernmost points of the Korean Peninsula. Today, the species lives in clustered geographic areas, squeezed into these regions by the expansion of human settlements and deforestation. Obverse features on the 2021 South Korean Tiger Silver Medals include the image of a young tiger cub in the extreme foreground. The tiger is lying on the ground in front of a wall of bamboo. In the background, there is a religious building. Reverse visuals on the 2021 1 oz Tiger Silver Medal are the common design of the series. Here, you will find an image of the Korean Peninsula. This design element features a tiger-skin texture in the background with the letters of the Hangul forming the shape of the Korean Peninsula.
