When servicing the Allison 1000 or Allison 2000 transmission on your GM vehicle, don’t forget about the external filter. To keep your transmission healthy, we recommend replacing the spin-on filter every 12,000 miles. When changing this filter, ensure that you clean and reuse the filter magnet that is sandwiched between the filter and the transmission. Oftentimes, this magnet will stick to the filter and be discarded by mistake.
