Description: In 1900, Frank Norris set out to write a trilogy called The Epic of the Wheat. The plan was for three novels to released having to do with the production, distribution, and the consumption of American wheat. The first book in the trilogy was The Octopus. The second was The Pit. Mr. Norris died before the third and final book of the trilogy was finished and it was never released. This listing is for the first two books, both first editions, released in 1901 and 1903. They are in generally good condition with clean pages. The Octopus has a very good binding. The Pit has what I would call an early stage split hinge at the front cover (see photo). Back cover is fine. Covers show considerable use. Family owned.
