Description: Offered is a near mint condition 9" x 12" wall calendar designed by recently passed astro-futurist L.A. artist Syd Mead, an artist who was instrumental in designing the look of the classic film BLADE RUNNER, starring Harrison Ford, Darryl Hannah, Edward James Olmos, and Rutger Hauer. The calendar was published by Oblagon Publishing Inc. in Los Angeles. Copyright notices in rear for The Bladerunner Partnership list a date of 1982, the National Geographic Society and Oblagon. Thirteen 9" x 12" images including the cover. Even though the 1982 date on the rear is the only date on the calendar, there are no year dates on any of the pages. I had to do a little digging, but what I found was that Oblagon published calendars with different covers in at least 1991, 1992 and 1993, and the dates in this calendar correspond to dates in 1989. No other date between 1982 and 1988 could correspond to the dates on the calendar. So I am nearly certain, given the age of the calendar, that it is from 1989. The dates also would have worked in 1995, but another one of these calendars which sold online in the past was listed as 1989, and that seems to be a more appropriate estimate. Interestingly, this calendar can be entirely reused this year, in 2023, and then again in 2034.
