Description: Tomball Texas Diamond Jubilee 1907-1982 Plate Vintage Souvenir Collectible History The plate depicts pictures from Tomball in 1907, Trinity Lutheran Church, The Railroad Depot, Griffin House, Brautigam's, Cherry St. School, Men Hanging Out in1945, and Main Street in 1982. Tomball began in 1907 as a freight terminal called Peck, located on the Trinity and Brazos Valley railroad. The town was named in honor of Thomas Henry Ball, U. S. Congressman and railroad attorney, who was responsible for routing the line through the area. The real strength of the community lies in the heritage of its early settlers. this included the settlements of Rose Hill, Decker Prairie and Hufsmith.Tomball owes its growth to the discovery of oil in May, 1933.
