However she is Frau Holle! “Frau Holle" is a German fairy tale collected by the Brothers Grimm in 1812. The story is about a pre-Christian female legendary figure who survived in popular belief until the 19th century. The story is said to be about a woman who transforms quarrelsome girls into cats and locks them up. You can tell she is an early Steinbach issue as she is standing on a round wooden beveled wafer.
