Description: Hello everyone. I just need to let you know that Spring time is now upon us, folks. The days are starting to get longer and the temperatures are starting to get back into the 60s, 70s, and the 80s. Spring time is the perfect time to get oneself back into shape again. And what better way of getting back in to shape then to ride on a classic Schwinn bicycle. With that being said, we all remember the childhood story of “Little Red Riding Hood” when we were young children. It was one of our favorite bedtime stories our parents would read to us before we closed our eyes and went to sleep. And again I’m sure you remember the hit song “Little Red Corvette” by the legendary Prince? It was a fantastic song to listen to and we all wanted to own a red Corvette just because of the influence this song had on us. But have you ever heard of the Lit’l Red Stingray? Of course you haven’t. It is a new concept I have developed here. I would now like to Introduce to you this most amazing, one of a kind, 1975 Schwinn 10 speed Lit’l Red Stingray. Wow! As you can plainly see in the pictures, this bicycle really is a one of a kind bicycle. It is unique in so many ways and you will never, I repeat, never find another bicycle like this one on this planet or any other planet in the cosmos. Please zoom in with your smart phone or computer and look closely at the pictures I have provided here. I mean, really look close at the beauty and depth of this bicycle. You will see this bicycle really is a superb work of Art. When the talented engineers of Schwinn came up with the Stingray concept, they were literally years ahead of their time. First came the Stingray bicycles in the 60s. When many of the young boys in the USA saw for the first time these Stingray bikes being displayed in the windows of their local Schwinn dealerships, their mouths salivated with envy and they begged and even cried to their parents to get one of these bikes for them. I should know because I was one of those envious kids back then. Let’s talk about the frame now. It is an original Schwinn Stingray frame. The I.D. number on the frame is HLXXXXXX. That means the frame was made in August of 1975 at the now defunct Schwinn Bicycle Company in Chicago, Illinois. That means it is officially 47-years-old. But look at the pictures again. Does this bicycle look 47-year-old? I can answer that for you. Absolutely and unequivocally not. The flamboyant red paint on this frame is original. It looks decent, but due to its age there are small areas of missing paint on it. I would estimate that less than 3% of the total surface area on this frame has missing paint on it. If you look towards the front of the frame, you will see nestled inside its curved support rods a red Schwinn pouch. It has the classic Schwinn circled “S” on it and you can place small trinkets or money into this pouch when it is being ridden on the street. You don’t find these very often on Schwinn bicycles, but you will find it here on this one. The 5-speed thumb shifter on the upper right side of the handlebars is an original SunTour shifter of the middle 70s. It came off a Schwinn 10 speed bicycle. It is in very good condition. You will find no rust or corrosion on this baby. If you’re looking for attention, this most definitely will give it to you. If you look to the left side of the handlebars, you will see the SunTour 10-speed thumb lever. It is an original 10-speed shifter lever that came off the same Schwinn 10-speed bicycle. The black casing looks good and it works just like if it was brand new. The black and white Schwinn head badge on the front of the frame is original. It is in nice condition and it let’s everyone who sees it know you are riding one awesomely made vintage Schwinn Stingray bicycle. The fork assembly is in great shape considering its age. You will find very little to no rust on this baby and the flamboyant paint looks great. The upper chrome cap gleams nicely in the sunlight, too. The front wheel is in good condition. The chrome looks OK on it, but it does have some minor surface rust and abrasions on it due to its age. It turns straight and it functions like it should. The front red Fenix tire is new and is in great condition. It is soft and very subtle to the touch. This is a new concept of mine. How many Schwinn Stingray bicycles do you see riding around out there that have red tires on them? Not very many, I’m sure. You will have many years of use with this tire. Now let’s move over to the 20-inch rear wheel. As you can plainly see it is very nice with lots of shiny chrome all around it. This wheel is in good condition. It does, however, have a slight wobble to it, but this will not hinder the function of the wheel. The rear 20” X 2.125 red knobby tire is a new tire and is in fantastic condition. It is made by Cheng Shin Tire Company. It looks great and it matches the color theme of this bicycle perfectly. If you look closely, you will also see each wheel has a plastic red dice valve stem cap on them. They look great and they add that extra pizzazz to this bicycle. Fantastic! The two red brake cables and the two red shifter cables are new and fully functional. They will give you many years of use and they look fantastic on this bike. The red housing on each of them adds that extra flare to an already amazing bicycle. I’m sure you have noticed the Weinmann brake calipers on the rear and front tires? The rear Weinmann caliper is a type 1080 caliper. It has been restored to a new condition. It works perfect. Then there is the front Weinmann type 810 caliper. It has also been restored to a new condition and they’re both show quality. They both function perfectly on this bicycle. The front fender is the original fender that came with this bicycle. The chrome on it is in fantastic shape. The rear fender is new. It will last for many years to come. The chrome shines up just fine and dandy on it, too. Let’s move on to the sissy bar now. This high back sissy bar is an original sissy bar of the middle 70s. The chrome on it looks very good and it is one of the original types of sissy bars that made Schwinn stingray bicycles very popular. Now turn your undivided attention to the sparkly red backrest pad attached to the rear sissy bar. It is in very good condition. But do you see something different about this backrest? It is made from the same vinyl fabric as the Schwinn banana seat. I personally painted the white vinyl dye on this backrest to make it look just like the white circled S and white stripes on the Schwinn banana seat. I promise you will not find this on any other Schwinn stingray bicycle out there. What do you think of the American flag attached to the sissy bar? Just think, when this awesome bicycle is being ridden down the street, Old Glory will be waving proudly and majestically in the wind for everyone to see. Don’t be surprised if you see people waving and honking their horn and maybe even saluting you as you or your loved one is riding this bicycle past them. What a perfect way to show your honor, your esteemed gratitude, and your patriotic love for this great country we live in. Amen. The chainguard is an original Schwinn chainguard of the early 70’s. It has been painted the same flamboyant red color as the frame and a new Schwinn Stingray water transfer decal has been applied to it. I personally painted the Lit’l Red words on it. The chrome edging has also been painted on it. Overall this original early 70s chain guard is in great condition. You will never see another Stingray bicycle like this one so it is best to get it now when the getting is good. And then there is the Schwinn red vinyl seat. It is a used seat, but boy does it ever go perfect with the color theme of this bicycle. It sparkles just like thousands of glittering stars or sparkly diamond fragments scattered in the sunlight. Very nice. I have found that a classic Schwinn bicycle is not officially a classic Schwinn bicycle unless it has a nice furry tail on the back of it. The tail on this bicycle is an authentic mink tail dyed red and it looks very nice if I do say so myself. What do you think of the red utility tool bag on the back of the bicycle? It is made from imported leather and it is very nice. It has been dyed red and you will not find this on any other bicycle that is being sold here on eBay. Now turn your attention to the rear reflector on this bicycle. It is in used condition, but it still looks fantastic. It adds to the authenticity of this bicycle. The pedals are the original early 70s pedals with reflectors and they are in good condition. They are Schwinn Approved pedals of course and they were made by the renowned bicycle craftsmen in Germany. Not by the namby-pamby tinker toy manufacturers you find in places like Taiwan, Japan, or China, but in Germany! Most of the metal on them shines up good and the plastic pedal pads look nice. They are not banged up and rusty like you see in a lot of the other bicycles. The pedal crank is in decent shape. It has very little surface rust on it, but it does show its age somewhat. The crank has the 74-year embossed on it and with just a little bit of buffing done on it, it will look almost new again. The 5 and 10-speed sprockets are original 1974 sprockets and they came off a 1974 Schwinn 10-speed bicycle. They, too, are part of the new Hybrid changes i have done to this bicycle. As you can see they are in prestige condition. There is very little rust or gouges on them and the chrome shines up just fine and dandy. The handlebars is new and in great shape. It looks just like the original 70s Schwinn handlebars. The mirror, attached to the handlebars, is a vintage 70s mirror. The yellow and red reflectors matches the color theme perfectly and the chrome looks good. You will get lots of attention with this thing. The mirror is clouded somewhat, but the reflection can still be seen thru it. The bulb bugle horn on the handlebars is new and in great shape. The chrome on it looks very nice and it works just like the originals.. Anytime you have a classic bicycle, you have to have a headlight on it. The headlight on this bicycle is brand new and it works perfect. The chrome shines very nice in the sunlight. The goose neck stem is original with the 74-year embossed on it. There is very little rust and corrosion on it and the chrome shines up just fine and dandy on it. The handle bar grips are original and in good condition. There is very little wear and tear on them and they still gleam nicely in the sunlight. The handlebar brake-levers are original for that time era and they are in great condition. They are covered up with two original red Hunt Wilde brake lever covers. Very nice! What do you think of the glowing red streamers dangling down from the handgrips? I can tell you now, classic Schwinn Krate and Stingray bicycles were not officially Krate and Stingray bicycles unless they had colorful streamers like these dangling down from their handgrips. These streamers are cool of course and they were made by none other than Hunt Wilde. They are soft to the touch and they blow freely in the wind. The rear Schwinn 5-speed derailleur is original. It was thoroughly cleaned and lubricated for this sale. It does have some minor scuff marks on its chrome casing, but not very much. It functions on this bicycle like it should, but it will probably need some fine adjustments done to it for optimum performance. Now take a gander at the front 10-speed derailleur attached to the lower seat post. It is an original Schwinn derailleur of the early to middle 70’s. The chrome on it looks fabulous and it functions just like if it was brand new. Once again, this is part of the new Hybrid changes I have done to this bicycle. The chrome color chain is new. It, too, is part of the new Hybrid changes I have done on this bicycle. It shines up very nice and adds beauty and style to this most incredible work of art. You will not find this on very many bicycles. You will, however, find it here on this one. The kickstand is original and is in good condition. There is some surface will it rust on it and it can be easily removed with some scotch bright and a little bit of WD-40 and some old fashion elbow grease. As you can plainly see here, folks, this bicycle is more complete and more equipped than most other Stingray bicycles being sold here on eBay. If you are looking for a bicycle that stands out more than the rest of them, then look no further than what you see here. This bicycle is a newly developed concept of mine and I feel a lot of people will take positive notice to the new Hybrid changes I have done to it. You can now use your savings to help purchase this bodacious, one of a kind bicycle. This bicycle would make an excellent gift for yourself, your son, your grandson, your nephew or any other boy you have great admiration for. Give him the gift he will love and cherish for many years to come. He will, most definitely, be the envy of every kid on his block.
