Ebbs graduated from Baldwin-WallaceCollege with a B.S.M. degree and has a Master of Music from the University ofMichigan.Ebbs taught public school music in Rittman, Ohio and Hobart, Indiana beforereturning to his alma mater as director of bands and head of the wind instrumentdepartment.In 1954 he moved to the University of Iowa where he developed marching andconcert bands that achieved national and international acclaim. Highlights of histhirteen years at Iowa were Rose Bowl appearances with the Hawkeye MarchingBand in 1957 and 1959 and numerous concert tours with the Symphonic Band(including the 1966 State Department sponsored tour of Western Europe andRussia). Since joining the faculty at Indiana University, Ebbs has taken thatschool’s famous “Marching Hundred” to the Rose Bowl festivities.Ebbs has traveled to every section of the United States as clinician, adjudicator,and guest-conductor — evidence of the esteem in which he is held by his colleagueseverywhere.FLUTESM.
