1962 Harmony Electric Bass Guitar w/ Original Case. Hollow Body. Model H-22

Description: Travel back in time with this 1962 Harmony electric bass guitar. Harmony built the H-22 from about 1961 to 1968. The inside ink stamp, F-62, indicates it was built in the first half of 1962. The prior longtime owner bought it used in 1966 in New York to play in a high school rock band called... the Pussycats. The band didn't last long, but he kept the bass for the next 58 years. Bound top and back. White pickguard. Single-coil goldfoil DeArmond pickup. Volume and tone control. Two-way chickenhead knob is a tone bypass. 15-7/8" lower bout. Cosmetically, it looks quite good. It has minimal scuffs or scrapes, but does have some ordinary age and play wear. The brass frets and rosewood fretboard are in fine condition. Functionally, it plays great. 12th fret action is about 6/32". If you want to play high up on the neck, you'll have to shim the neck heel. The split shaft of the tone bypass control broke in half. Instead of replacing the pot, there is a screw though the side of the chickenhead knob that goes through the half of the pot shaft that remains. It works, but should likely be used in a gentle fashion. It comes in its original case. The handle is missing, but the latches and hinges still work. It's a classic All-American guitar, ready for its next owner. Questions? It will be well packed with plenty of new 1/2" bubble wrap and shipped in a new 46"x19"x7" stout cardboard instrument box.
