Description: I have here for sale a book entitled THREE GEISHAS by KIKOU YAMATA, translated by EMMA CRAWFORD. This first edition was published in 1956 by CASSELL & CO, London.Three biographies of famous Geishas, Okichi who became the mistress of the first American consul in Japan, O-koi who became the inspiration of Prime Minister Katsura, and Tsumakichi who rebuilt her life after she lost both her arms during a night of terror; also includes an introduction detailing aspects of the culture and history of the Geisha; colour frontispiece plate shows The Geisha by Morenobu (the same appears to front and rear of dustwrapper. Bound in cream linen boards, with red title lettering on the spine. A couple of dark marks to the lower edge of the front board. This book has its original dust jacket. This is rubbed along the edges with a couple of chips in the spine area and fold corners, slightly sunned. Price is cutaway. The book : endpapers are tanned, otherwise the book is in very good condition, pages are clean and bright and it is tightly bound with no loose or missing pages; 187pp, 23cm x 15cm Postage and packing : I know that you will be looking forward to receiving your order, each book is carefully wrapped in packing paper ( I have changed from bubble wrap to try and reduce my use of plastic) and posted in a Jiffy bag if size permitting, if not it is double wrapped in corrugated cardboard, brown paper and then securely taped.
