1955 February Tab Magazine Bettie Page Tempest Storm Women in Sports

Description: This is for an original February 1955 volume 4 number 6 issue of Tab magazine which was published by the Carnival Magazine Company in New York. This is by far one of the better issues of the magazine. Not only is there a beautiful cover of Bettie Page, but there is also a nice writeup and photo section inside of America’s favorite pinup queen. Even though Bettie Page would always spell her name as Bettie Page, this issue has her as Bette Paige. The back cover also has a photo of famous model Betty Brosmer but her name is spelled as Betty Brasmer. There are also photos of a 17 year old June Daleo posing in a bikini along with pinups of Beverly Michaels, Trudy Williams, Eve Meyer (with the photos taken by her husband and future director Russ Meyer), Pat Hand, Irish McCalla, Tempest Storm and Faye Morley. There is also a nice bikini contest layout with one of the last pictures being winner Chris Mara in a bikini posing with a five year old in a bikini with the caption reading “When this little girl grows up, maybe she’ll win bikini honors - as Chris did”, not really something that would fly today. Theres an interesting read with photos entitled “How to Break a Leg” featuring men playing soccer on motorcycles along with “Nothings to Tough for the Gals” featuring women in everything from baseball to roller derby to wrestling and football. Also a nice story and photos of a woman bullfighter who is 34-23-33, 105 pounds called “Torso vs Toro”. So much more in this book which is usually overshadowed by the Bettie Page cover. A must have for any pinup or Bettie Page collector. Book is in nice shape with a full spine and no missing or loose pages. Check out the scan and email with any questions.
