1950s Rocking Chair by The Telescope Folding Furniture Company Inc Made in USA

Description: This fabulous antique portable wooden rocking chair is the perfect addition to your porch, patio or family room - or take this folding wood chair with you on your next vacation! This unique antique folding maple chair was made by the Telescope Chair Company. This model was introduced in the early 1920s, was in production through the early 1950s and is credited with enabling the Telescope Chair Company to survive based on its extreme popularity. It is rare to find a folding Telescope rocking chair at all ~ never mind one in such wonderful condition! This chair is in very good vintage condition with a rich patina, and has its original label. The chair folds up and opens very easily, and is held open by metal sliding mechanisms on the rocker. It has a small chip at the top of one of the stiles, a few water marks and other small stains indicative of normal wear over the years. When unfolded, this wonderful chair measures 23" wide x 30.5" tall and the rockers are 30". from front to back. The seat height is 15" at its edge.The Telescope Folding Furniture Co. Inc. of Granville, N.Y. was founded in 1903 by Henry J. W. Vanderminden Sr. and is still in business today. The business got its start in Manhattan making primarily folding cots and now specializes in patio sets and outdoor lounge furniture. The name has changed from the Telescope Cot Bed & Novelty Co. to Telescope Folding Furniture to its current name, the Telescope Casual Furniture Company.
