Description: Here are two like-new pinbacks from the Republican convention in 1952 or 1956 boosting the candidacy of Dwight D. Eisenhower. Featured is a most unusual moire 2 1/4-inch pinback that flashes between the "I Like Ike" logo and a portrait of Eisenhower (check out the video). Along with it is a 3/4-inch "I Like Ike" red-white-and-blue lapel pinback button. These would have been from either the 1952 or 1956 campaigns. Along with them is a chocolate brown Dirksen button, touting Illinois Sen. Everett Dirksen. In 1943, then-Congressman Dirksen announced he would run for the presidency in 1944 against FDR with the backing of a group of Congressmen, an effort that fizzled. I do not know if this button is from that bid, or from one of Dirksen's later Senate campaigns. The three large buttons are 1 3/4 and the smaller two are 1 inch. -------------- See my other listings for Nixon 1968 buttons, Democrat 1968 Buttons, 1964 Goldwater vs. Rockefeller, and Oddball/Also-ran candidate buttons (Stassen, Tiny Tim, Wallace, Communist Party, Prohibition Party).
