The White Front Club operated next door to the Kentucky Club, located at 310 ½ Central Avenue. In the late 1920s it was run as a speakeasy and a book parlor. In the 30’s operated by Ben Blackburn and Richard Galastas who had strong criminal ties and a well-known con man, He served time in federal Prison for his part in the Kansas City Massacre,In the late 50s and early 60s it was operated by Anton J. “Tony” Karston, who was called the dean o casino operations, A 1959 article stated the club had four dice tables, a card table, one roulette wheel, two blackjack tables, and numerous slot machines. During 1964 and 1967 the casino was raided numerous times. Both the Kentucky Club and the White Front Club have since been torn down; Gambling ceased in 1967. On June 16, 1933, agents of the FBI arrested Frank Nash in the White Club. Nash, who was a well-known criminal and had visited Hot Springs on a regular basis. He was immediately moved by train to Kansas City. Meeting the train at Union Station was four of Nash’s friends, who attempted to shoot it out with the police to get his release, In the shootout, “the Kansas City Massacre”, Nash was killed along with four officers. One of those involved was Charles “Pretty Boy” Floyd.
