Description: This radio is probably not of interest to collectors, but may be ideal for someone looking for a great performing vintage AM radio. After WWII any new radio would sale easily. But Detrola Corp. wanted to sell lots of radios! Detrola was a minor brand compared to RCA or Zenith. To sell lots of radios they decided to sell them to various organizations under brand names of the their choice. This resulted in a lot of Detrola radios selling under essentially unknown brands. If the radio brand was unknown it needed to stand out. Detrola did that by making a low cost radio with superior performance. So, despite the True-test brand, this is a 1946 Detrola model 572. The model 572 was sold under about 50 brands in 10 different styles. Compared to most post war table models, it has superior sensitivity and selectivity due to an extra tuned stage. This model 572 has been recapped, tubes checked/replaced, and carefully tuned up by a electronic technician. The cabinet is in fair to good condition, but is not perfect (see photos).
