Description: Marvelous and rare Menu / Program for the Pan American Society of the United States and Cuban Chamber of Commerce (in the United States) DINNER in Honor of His Excellency and President-Elect of the Republic of Cuba, Dr. Ramon Grau San Martin. The event was held at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, NYC on September 7, 1944. The attractive program with a red, white and blue cord sash features the excellent menu, a handsome picture of San Martin and an itinerary of speakers presenting in his honor. The program is autographed by seven individuals on the verso.Dr. Ramon Grau was a Cuban physician who served as President of Cuba from 1933 to 1934 and from 1944 to 1948. He was the last President born during Spanish rule. He was long active in Cuban politics, usually running against the current of Batista and/ or his picked candidates. After the Cuban Revolution and rise of Fidel Castro in 1959, Grau retired to his home in Havana and maintained a low profile until his passing in 1969.7 X 9 when closed! Very good condition.
